TDSB Student Walk: Steps to a Successful GuluWalk

guluwalk_littleguytoque_large1It’s time to rally the troops!

Next Monday GuluWalk will be at the North York Community Hall, in partnership with the Elementary Teachers of Toronto, holding an information session on the TDSB Student Walk, a not-for-profit event when students and teachers from elementary schools across the city come together at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2010 to raise funds and awareness around the challenges facing youth in the war-torn regions of northern Uganda. The Walk has averaged close to 4,000 participants the last two years and raised more than $5000 for youth programs in Africa.

Monday’s workshop will also outline GuluWalk’s history, provide information on the programs it supports and offer curriculum support for programming linked to character development and social justice issues.

Workshop Date: March 23, 2010
Time: 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Location: North York Memorial Community Hall
Concourse Level  - Gold Room
5110 Yonge St.

Started by just two concerned citizens in 2005, GuluWalk is now an international movement for peace with over 30,000 participants in 75 cities in 16 countries. The TDSB Student Walk is supported by the Toronto District School Board and the Elementary Teachers of Toronto. It promotes character development in Toronto’s youth and global citizenship in the city’s classrooms.
