Do a GuluWalk
This year’s Global GuluWalk is on October 24, 2009. Dozens of cities around the world will host walks, often involving speakers and performances, as a way to engage the community and raise awareness. Find out where you will walk by checking the city list here.
This year, we will be walking to tell the story of a region post-conflict, when reconstruction and rehabilitation are most important, and where a generation of youth are, for the first time, able to imagine a stable and peaceful life in their future. It is at this vulnerable time that the international community can turn a blind eye to regions emerging from decades of war, and we walk to make sure their story continues to be seen and heard.
Join us this year by walking in your area, or by starting your own GuluWalk. Sign-up here now.
Sponsor a GuluWalker
Each year, thousands walk around the world for northern Uganda. For every walker, there are many supporters, friends, or family members who sponsor them, making GuluWalk a success and supporting programs for youth on the ground. If you are unable to walk this year, consider sponsoring a walker, a group or team of walkers, or GuluWalk in general. Many thanks for your support. Request a Speaker
Have a member of the Guluwalk team, mostly in Toronto but also from our volunteer base around the world, visit your office, community group, school or event. Aside from supporting youth in northern Uganda, GuluWalk’s main aim is to promote awareness and educate about the issues facing those youth in Africa: From Internal Displacement, to child soldiers, to the activity of the LRA, to global citizenship and activism. Speakers with GuluWalk aim to educate, engage and inspire whomever they meet. Contact our team for more information.
Volunteer
The original GuluWalk started with just two people in July of 2005 and has now grown into a worldwide movement for peace. It has grown and continues to grow because of the tireless effort of volunteers like you, who have made the choice to get involved.
There are always volunteer opportunities with the GuluWalk campaign in Toronto, as well as with any of the GuluWalk events worldwide.
If you’d like to get involved in Toronto or simply want more information about how you can make a difference in northern Uganda, please contact:
